4.1 - Defining Non-Physicians Providers

Defining Advanced Practice Providers - Non-physician Providers

Physician Assistants (PAs)

Anesthesiologist Assistants (AAs)

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs)

Nurse Practitioners (NPs)

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs)

Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs)

Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs)

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Pract (PMHNP)

Personal Bias- APPs will play a crucial Role in Future of Healthcare.

I believe APPs/NPs are integral for Value-based Care

  • Physician Shortage will expand
  • PMHNP are crucial to fill in the gaps of Psychiatrists
  • Value in care for Chronic and Chronic critically ill patients
  • Coordination of care is significant burden on physicians

Personal Experience & Bias

Most NPs - Do NOT want

To be called Doctors

To completely independently provide care unless it is primary care

Most NPs - Do want

To be respected as Clinicians

To be part of the care team

We are all part of the team team and passionate about providing value to our patients.
